Te Whare o Taonga, a programme run by Taonga Education Centre, provides a safe and supportive home for māmā taiohi who require temporary housing while learning to care for and raise their pēpi. Located in the heart of South Auckland, this service offers māmā taiohi the opportunity to gain the essential skills needed for their personal growth and to become confident, capable parents.

Our 4 Stages Journey to Independence Programme lies at the heart of what we offer. This comprehensive programme helps māmā taiohi establish consistent routines for their pēpi, learn how to cook nutritious meals, and connect with external agencies for health and wellbeing support. We assist māmā taiohi in setting and achieving personal and family goals, empowering them to care for themselves and their pēpi with confidence and safety.

Our team is committed to supporting māmā taiohi as they prepare for independence—whether it’s living independently in the community or returning to whānau. Our success is realised when māmā taiohi and their pēpi no longer need our support, as they step into a future filled with hope and independence.

Te Whare O Taonga is more than just a house; it’s a space where māmā taiohi can build the foundations for a brighter future, not only for themselves but also for their pēpi.
