At Taonga Education Centre, we understand the unique challenges faced by māmā taiohi, and we are proud to offer our Teen Parent Unit in partnership with James Cook High School. This service provides a supportive environment where māmā taiohi can continue their education while learning the essential skills required for parenthood.

Our onsite social worker, along with our dedicated support team, works closely with māmā taiohi to help them access vital social, community, and health services. We are committed to ensuring māmā taiohi stay engaged with their academic goals, while also providing guidance on safe parenting practices.

Our Community Services extend this support to māmā taiohi who live in the community and require additional help to connect with agencies. We work alongside these young parents to set achievable goals for themselves and their pēpi, helping them build the skills and confidence they need for a bright future.

At Taonga Education Centre, we believe in the transformative power of education and the strength of parenthood. Our mission is to empower māmā taiohi to create brighter futures for themselves and their pēpi, and to equip them with the tools they need to succeed.
